Skunk Anansie | Live Review | 24th March 2013

Last night saw the return of the mighty Skunk Anansie to Bristol’s O2 Academy.

American rockers Beware of Darkness were there as support and did a fine job of building the energy from the waiting crowd with a solid performance..

This energy was only heightened when Skunk Anansie burst onto the stage, opening with The Skank Heads. Skin dressed in a black feather jacket and black ripped legging showed none of her 45 years. I’m not sure what regime these 90′s rock legends have been on for the past two decades but it’s clearly working.

The set that they performed was a good mix of older songs and covered the best of the latest album ‘Black Magic’.

The highlight of the set was a performance of “Little Baby Swastikkka” which saw Skin spending most of the song headsurfing through the screaming crowd.

There were surprisingly 200 tickets still unsold on the night and I can only say that those 200 people missed an epic performance, one that I wouldn’t have missed for the world.

Rating: 10/10
