Review: The Doors Alive – O2 Academy

On Sunday evening we were treated to a performance by The Doors Tribute band, ‘The Doors Alive‘ at Bristol’s O2 Academy and it proved to be the perfect end to the weekend.

Lead vocalist, Willie Scott recreated Jim Morrison perfectly, from his stage presence to his incredible vocals. The Doors Alive really are the closest you will get to the real thing. From the very beginning Willie had the crown in the palm of his hand.

The Doors Alive worked their way through an impressive setlist of the Doors back catalogue. A personal highlight for me was the performance of ‘Peace Frog‘, not everyone in the audience was familiar with this song but it has always been one of my personal favourites (it even featured as one of my ringtones once). The whole band recreated the song with an eerie precision.

L.A. Woman and Roadhouse Blues were executed with the exact same legendary power as Jim Morrison delivered all those years ago.

It was clear that the crowd were die-hard Doors fans and they sang along throughout the entire set. It was truly a fantastic performance from a group of incredibly talented musicians. This was a perfect tribute to one of the greatest bands in the world.
