Metronomy are returning to the South West this September as part of their 2011 tour. Formed back in 1999 in Totnes and originally the solo project of Joseph Mount, this band has reached new heights. Their third album, ‘The English Riviera’, has been nominated for the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize . This is a gig not to be missed.
The album ‘The English Riviera’ gives a variety of structures, with some material sounding almost improvised. Just a minute of the intro will be enough to confirm this is not a man who thinks inside given confines, The End Of You Too is a track throwing some intriguing shapes, colour combinations and styles. It crucially all sounds live, so even if it has been constructed on a computer, the presence of live musicians has given Metronomy’s music an essentially human element, making it more vulnerable as a result.
