Over 7,000 festival goers descended on the Blaise Castle estate this Saturday to enjoy the latest addition to Bristol’s festival scene.
Let’s Rock Bristol is the sister festival to Let’s Rock the Moor and made it’s debut this year to a sellout crowd. This family-friendly 80′s festival had all the right ingredients for a perfect day out.
The beautiful setting of the Blaise Castle, a 650-acre estate and majestic 18th Century Mansion could not have been more perfect and the glorious sunshine added to the perfect recipe for success. With picnics and mini camps as far as the eye could see the family friendly atmosphere was set on high gear for sunny festival fun.
The line-up read like a who’s who of 80’s royalty and every single performer on stage gave it their all, spurred on by the crowd and the sunshine. It’s almost impossible to pick out musical highlights with the bands doing a mix of their hits, Clare Grogan and Happy Birthday we salute you! Together with few well placed covers, thank you Brother Beyond for Footloose! Unfortunately it all had to come to an and as Billy Ocean took to the stage the crowd went crazy. Looking beyond fantastic he performed a truly memorable set, the echoes of Caribbean Queen was the soundtrack to our Sunday as we looked back on a great day.
As well as top class performances there was plenty to eat and drink and see and do especially for the kids and the big kids among our group, a quick spin on the meteorite took me right back to being 13 at our local fair!
Hopefully this event will now become a regular fixture in the Bristol calendar and we will spend the winter with our fingers crossed hoping for the return of Let’s Rock Bristol and the sunshine!
A big thank you to everyone involved for a truly memorable and fabulous day!
