Review: Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2011

The Collett Transport services Bristol International Balloon Fiesta proves a huge success

As the saying goes “The best things in life are free”, and nothing proves this saying true more than the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Despite a wet start, thousands turned out this weekend to celebrate the 33rd annual balloon fiesta. With 5 out of the 7 planned mass ascents going ahead there were plenty of opportunities to see the vast array of balloons take to the skies.

This year’s focus was “Made in Bristol” as the event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the world’s largest hot air balloon manufacturer, Cameron Balloons, who provided a live demonstration of how a hot air balloon is built. The event featured a wide range of locally sourced food, music and arts and crafts. There was also an impressive line-up of entertainment in the main arena, including the Exit Parachute Display Team and Flyin’ Ryan the motorcycle stunt show.

The Saturday night glow attracted record numbers and it didn’t dissapoint. People watched on as 25 tethered balloons fired their burners in time to the music. A spectacular fireworks display provided the finale for the Saturday entertainment.

On Sunday, the world famous Red Arrows marked the end of this years celebrations.

We would like to thank the team at Spirit PR for their kind hospitality over the weekend and for the hard work they did to ensure that the event was a huge success.
